Basic services are provided in general health awareness education and prevention training and in capacity building training areas. Basic services normally include information transfer (not technical assistance).
Basic training services are periodically offered through community-wide workshops, seminars, or tutorials to facilitate the health awareness education and prevention efforts of other nonprofit organizations, community leaders, prevention stakeholders, and individuals.
Health awareness education and prevention training is offered in general health disparity areas, i.e., health areas in which minorities and other disadvantaged persons are disproportionately represented. Targeted health awareness and prevention areas include: HIV/AIDS, STDs, teen parenting, substance use and abuse, juvenile crime and violence prevention training. These trainings will normally be offered in one-to-two and-a-half day open forum formats.
Capacity-building training basic service areas are not inclusive of all comprehensive services training and technical assistance areas. Basic service trainings will be offered to organizations and individuals in community-wide workshops or public forums, or as requested for five or more participants, in the following capacity-building training basic service areas:
Starting a Nonprofit, 501(c) (3) Organization
Board Development and Training
Program Planning and Development
Grants Writing, and
Program Evaluation.
Requesting individuals or organizations may access basic services by: (1) requesting private training in a specific subject area for their agencies or key staff; or (2) attending community-wide workshops, seminars, or other trainings scheduled by The Nominal Group, Inc. on a periodic basis. Interested persons may reference the training calendar, request for information, or request for training or technical assistance forms to make specific inquiries or requests.
The training calendar details offerings in general health awareness education and prevention training and capacity-building training and technical assistance service areas and scheduled inter-agency trainings. Inter-agency trainings are trainings provided to one requesting agency which may be made available to other nonprofit organizations. The community calendar will detail city-wide offerings of programs and activities for children, youth, and young adults ages 8 to 26, who may participate in prevention training, intervention, and skills-building classes or activities in health awareness education and prevention.
Comprehensive services include both basic services and comprehensive capacity-building training and technical assistance in targeted areas for requesting organizations and their staff. These services may result from, be an expansion of, or be inclusive of basic training services. Interested parties may make specific inquiries or requests after reference to the training calendar or request for information or services form.
The Nominal Group’s comprehensive capacity-building training and technical assistance services are designed to equip the organization with the necessary skills to plan, develop, manage, and perpetuate a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization consistent with their identified mission or purpose, values, and vision. The structure and inclusiveness of the training and technical assistance will vary according to whether the organization is starting, developing, or matured. Comprehensive services will normally include no less than three-to-five day capacity-building training and follow-up, hands-on technical assistance to requesting organizations.
The scope of the training and technical assistance will be contingent upon the identified needs, goals, and time arrangements of the requesting organization. For example, according to organizational time restraints, modules may be tailored to four-hour, one-day, or two-and one-half to five-day training formats.
