--Jackson, MS-- The Nominal Group, Inc., is excited to highlight its Youth Offender Program [YOP].

YOP is an out-of-school suspension and behavior modification and intervention program designed to teach highly structured social skills building sessions to youth who have been suspended, from the Jackson Public School and Hinds County Public School Systems, 3, 5, 10 days or have been expelled for the entire school year. The purpose of YOP is to intervene with youth who have been suspended or expelled from school; assess the behaviors that cause the suspension; and address those behaviors by providing daily social skills building sessions on Respecting Authority and the Law, Social Skills, Peer Mediation, Consequences of all Behaviors, Anger Management, Responsible Decision Making, Stress Management, Alcohol and Drug Prevention, HIV and STD Prevention, one-on-one tutoring, mentoring and more. YOP sessions are held Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s, 8:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. YOP:

Is a Court Ordered Program
Has been approved by a local Youth Court Judge and the staff at the Henley-Young Youth Detention Center
Is designed to keep kids off the streets during school hours;
Provides daily sessions to kids suspended from school for 3, 5, 10 days or expelled for the entire school year;
Accepts kids age 10-17 who have been suspended or expelled from the Jackson Public School System and the Hinds County Public School System;
Covers discussion topics on Respecting Authority and the Law, Social Skills, Peer Mediation, Consequences of all Behaviors, Anger Management, one-on-one tutoring from Volunteer Behavior Health Counselors, Mentoring and more.
Provides a Certificate of Program Completion that is presented back to the school for next term enrollment
Is fee-based

• Youth Court Judge can order a youth to participate in the program
